I’m currently engaged in a research project exploring the intersection of usability principles and sustainable urban development in African cities. This work, contributes to the broader discourse on UN Sustainable Development Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), focusing on the challenges and opportunities in African urban contexts.

African cities are experiencing rapid growth, with urban populations expected to triple by 2050. This rapid urbanisation presents significant challenges: inadequate infrastructure, informal settlements, and environmental concerns. Addressing these complex, context-specific issues is important .

Leading this exciting work, in collaboration with researchers from diverse backgrounds, we explore key themes like Usability in Urban Planning, African Indigenous Knowledge Systems, Context-Sensitive Design and African Case Studies.

Our aim is to contribute new perspectives on creating more inclusive, efficient, and sustainable urban environments in Africa. By examining the role of usability and indigenous knowledge in urban planning, we hope to offer insights that could inform future approaches to sustainable urban development in rapidly growing African cities.

As this project progresses, I look forward to engaging in broader discussions about sustainable urbanisation in Africa and beyond. Stay tuned for more updates as our research progresses!
